Brigid Carmichael is a litigator representing companies and individuals in a range of complex actions, including antitrust, investigations, ERISA, false advertising, and constitutional matters.
Brigid’s practice focuses on high-stakes federal litigation, where she takes on substantive roles in discovery, motion practice, and witness examinations. Her experience includes managing discovery for a national trade association in a major antitrust matter and deposing key witnesses in an Eighth Amendment case against officials at Stateville Prison.
Before joining Massey & Gail, Brigid worked as both a lobbyist and litigator at Legal Action Chicago, where she represented low-income clients in state and federal class actions.
Brigid earned her J.D. from Northwestern Pritzker School of Law, where she served as an associate editor of the Journal of Law and Social Policy and was active on the board of the ACLU. She received her B.A. from Grinnell College and was a Posse Scholar.
Representative Matters
- Represent Novo Nordisk in false advertising actions against medical spas involving Ozempic and semaglutide marketing, securing eleven settlements within one year of filing.
- Represent the National Association of Realtors in nationwide antitrust class action litigation challenging buyer broker compensation practices, assisting defense strategy and joint defense efforts in a case seeking tens of billions of dollars in damages.
- Represented the trustees of Unite Here Health in ERISA class action litigation alleging breach of fiduciary duty, leading discovery, opposing class certification, and briefing summary judgment and Daubert motions, securing a partial denial of class certification and sanctions against third parties.
- Represented an incarcerated individual in § 1983 litigation against Stateville Correctional Center officials, securing a monetary settlement.
- Represented a national insurance company in a confidential internal investigation into discrimination and retaliation allegations against a former executive, conducting witness interviews and mediation that resulted in a pre-suit resolution.
