Martin Sigalow
Associate

Martin Sigalow is a commercial litigator who represents companies in complex disputes in federal and state courts. His practice focuses on commercial litigation involving financial services, banking, and technology-related disputes. He assists clients through all phases of litigation, including dispositive briefing, discovery, and trial preparation.

Before joining Massey & Gail, Martin practiced at Sidley Austin LLP.

Martin earned his J.D. from New York University School of Law, where he received the Seymour A. Levy Memorial Award for his student note. While in law school, he served as a judicial intern to the Hon. Kenneth M. Karas of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York and as an extern in the Civil Division of the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York.

  • Represented JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A. in litigation in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit involving aiding and abetting breach of fiduciary duty.
  • Represent Metropolis, a parking technology company, in multi-state class action litigation involving alleged consumer privacy violations; currently in dispositive motion practice.
  • Represented PayLink, a vehicle service contract financing company, in multi-forum litigation involving contract and reinsurance disputes, securing a $35 million stipulated judgment on the eve of trial as part of a multi-party settlement.
  • Represented private equity firms, financial institutions, and individual directors in commercial litigation and governance disputes.
  • Represented a cryptocurrency investigation company in a dispute with the City of Chicago concerning access to Know Your Customer information.
  • Represented a closed-end fund in litigation in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit under the Investment Company Act of 1940.
  • Represented a Fortune 20 company in temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction proceedings in U.S. Bankruptcy Court.
  • Represented an individual director of a Fortune 1 company in securities class action litigation.
  • Represented clients in government investigations, including antitrust, bankruptcy-related, and Southern District of New York matters involving a former public official.
  • Represented private equity firms and financial institutions in non-party subpoena and civil investigative demand matters, including defeating a motion to compel production of sensitive business information.
  • Represented a finance company in a breach of contract dispute resulting in an eight-figure judgment.
